How To Avoid Burnout From A Healthy Lifestyle
When you’re trying to hydrate, exercise, avoid processed foods, eat raw, juice, make healthy meals for your kids, be a good, conscious parent and spouse, help with homework, meal balance, stay aligned, try alkaline, log meals, buy organic, bulk cook, avoid plastic, keep skin glowing, use green products, get eight hours of sleep, drink clean water, reduce sugar, budget shop, and stay calm, it can allll be a bit much!
If it feels like staying healthy and juggling it all is too much these days, consider that may be by design.
The busier, fast moving, and more stressed we are, the less we pay attention to details, when it comes to what we truly need to be healthy. The more we spend, rougher choices we make ,and the less happy we feel. That alone can spiral into health challenges.
All we really need is a clean mind, spirit, body, and love. (Oh and fa-sho some cashola!) It sounds simple, but we all know that getting there may be challenging.
Healthy burnout is real, especially for us multitasking mamas. It was actually one of the reasons that started Mommafied. I wanted a nurturing space that made it ok for us moms to freely exhale.
If you feel yourself teetering on the edge of burnout (especially when it comes to feeling overwhelmed with all things healthy) here are 7 practical reminders to keep it at bay:
Take it slow even when it may feel like our world is hurrying us along.
Prioritize one wellness goal daily. Savor the time and resources we have. Don’t stall our goals thinking about what we wish we had.
Remind ourselves that rest is a non-negotiable. Take it with no reservation and allow it to be healing, especially when to-do lists are mounting and burnout is brewing! Psst~don’t forget your sleep mask to maximize REM level rest.
Let go of perfection: Give ourselves grace, no one’s perfect, especially when it comes to veganism. Even when transitioning to plant-based eating I ate things that I thought were vegan, but were far from it. Focus on progress over perfection!
Embrace ‘no guilt’ days. I avoid thinking of them as “cheat days” because that connotes doing something wrong. Indulgence isn’t wrong, if done in moderation! Besides, what’s life without fries & yummy desserts?
Do what’s difficult first, then add something positive: Reward yourself after a challenging task with a calming treat. Did a tough early am workout? Reward yourself with a calming gua sha session.
Say yes to fruits and veggies! They healing to our bodies and mind, and are cost effective. Pro tip: Vegan life is inflation proof: Even when inflation prices level out, clean vegan meals will still cost 40% less than meat-forward ones, and take less time to make.
Remember that our health is a long term investment, not a quick fix race. How do you avoid burning out on all things healthy?
