Affirmations For New Vegans And Plant-Based Moms

Sometimes us busy moms can be our own worst critics. Especially when we fall off of health goals that we're trying to achieve. When we're busy teaching our kids how to be good people and  how to develop healthy habits, but are steadily falling off ourselves it can be tough to stay confident and on track.

Instead of beating yourself up, one way to take your power back when you've fallen off the health wagon is to first truly believe it yourself, by affirming it.

Because our cute little' human minds can't actually distinguish between reality and the lies that we tell ourselves, affirmations are a great way to help us truly believe and embody concepts  at the core. By affirming what we want to see in our lives daily, even if it is a current fantasy, it becomes more realistic and tangible. Want to think more positively? Affirm it. Want to buy that dream house? Affirm it. Want that hot bod? Affirm it!

It works the same way with health, when you want to transition to a new, healthy, lifestyle, or be plant-based. It can be tough—full of temptation, reminders of past cravings, and even naysayers who don't understand your new lifestyle commitment. But affirmations can anchor us, by creating room for deep focus and repetition in short blocks of time. Affirmations can help you zone into your big why, by placing it at the forefront of your mind.

For me, the personal choice to go vegan was a process, with many stops and restarts. I didn't just wake up one day and decide to go for it. It took years of seeing what worked best for my body, my taste buds, my overall physical and mental health, and the ability to integrate those food choices into my family and our food traditions, personal and cultural celebrations and routines. My big why is tied to not only honoring my body and achieving personal wellness, it’s about doing it for my family. It’s about preventative health for us all, and developing more life-giving habits than our ancestors had access to, many often doing the best with what they had.  For me, plant-based life is tied to building healthier generations, and communities. I often need reminders and reinforcement to get there. Affirmations do that for me.

Have you tried using affirmations to achieve your health goals? Specifically for building a rock solid plant-based life?
